We hope the New Year 5766 has had a good beginning and we hope you have an easy fast. We want to give a Mazal Tov to all the students who worked on and participated in our Fast for Darfur program. More than 200 people were at the Break-the-Fast dinner, and it proved to be an extraordinary evening.

HOOKAH IN THE SUKKAH BBQ!
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20 - 7-10 PM - IN THE HILLEL SUKKAH

Hillel's fabulous Fall party is this Thursday.
The Hillel Sukkah is onthe south side of Mundelein Center.
The barbeque is on the outside, the hookahs are in the sukkah!Bring your friends!
If you want to stop by the Sukkah Open House - then come by earlier in theday from Noon-4 PM.
There will be music and snacks in the sukkah and anopportunity to shake a lulav and an etrog!


EAT IN OUR SUKKAH DURING THE FIRST DAYS OF THE HOLIDAY!

Although Hillel is not organizing formal meals in the sukkah the first days of Yom Tov (Monday evening, October 17-Wednesday evening October 19), you should try and eat as many meals as you can in the sukkah. The tables and chairs will be there - bring your food and eat under the stars!


SUKKAH OPEN HOUSE AND HOOKAH IN THE SUKKAH BBQ! - THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20

NOON - 4 PM is our annual Sukkah Open House where we invite members of the campus community to come visit our sukkah. We will have music and food! Invite your friends, your teachers, your RA\'s, your TA\'s!

7-10 PM is our annual "Hookah in the Sukkah BBQ" when we take out the grills and bring the hookahs into the sukkah for what has become a Hillel at Loyola spectacular! As the name implies, we will have a kosher, BBQ dinner.If you can help grill, that would be great!


"SHABBAT UNDER THE STARS" - FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21 - 6 PM - IN THE SUKKAH

A traditional kosher Shabbat meal in the sukkah. Since this is the beginning of Hunger Week, and one of the themes of the sukkah is "sukkah as shelter,"this will be the theme of our Shabbat dinner. The dates for the Hillel trip are departure from New York will be between January 1-4, 2006 and return to New York will be between January 11-16, 2006.

The Shorashim trip has two departure times, one the week of Decdmber 19 and one the first week in January.


$500 WINTER ISRAEL MISSIONS FOR STUDENTS WHO HAVE ALREADY BEEN TO ISRAEL

Registration is still open for the National Hillel Missions, begun as a way for students to continue having an Israel Experience after Birthright.The 10-day trip includes New Year's Eve. There will be 4 tracks - Jewish Pluralism and Learning, Tzedek, Hillel-AIPAC Advanced Advocacy and Business andTecnhology. ELIE WIESEL LECTURE IN WILMETTE - SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30 - 3:00 PM

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Elie Wiesel (whose Hillel-sponsored visit to Loyola was the largest lecture in Loyola's history) is coming to Beth Hillel.

Elie Wiesel has received many awards in addition to the Nobel Peace Prize, and his over 40 books include Night, Dawn, Souls on Fire. Signed copies of his newest book, The Time of the Uprooted, will be avaiable for sale. Eliel Wiesel's lecture title is "Against Indifference." Wiesel has said "inmorality as in literature...indifference is the enemy; indifference to evil is worse than evil."
