Hagshama's Leadership Training Seminar in Israel

25 students will be selected from around the world (only 10 from North America) to participate in this conference. Tours, encounters with Israeli political and cultural figures, workshops, lectures and entertainment!

Israel Activists 2007
The program will train students to be representatives on their campuses and give them the tools to help others get to Israel through programs offered by the Israel Programs Center. Students will visit different programs and participate in workshops on public speaking and marketing to help them recruit students and spread the word about Israeli programs.

Elections for the DePaul  Hillel board are now OPEN.  If you've been to one or more DePaul Hillel events this year stop by Hillel and see who's running.  This is your chance to decide who will lead Hillel next year.

07-08 JCRC/Hillel's Israel Initiative

Intern Description

 

This internship is a paid position, and a time requirement of 5-20 hours a week is therefore necessary. 

 

  REQUIREMENTS:

 

Initiate and foster Israel-related programs on campus for both Jewish and non-Jewish

students and faculty by planning:

  • Lecture/Speaker events
  • Rallies
  • Cultural events

Advocate and voice support for Israel in the media:

  • Write letters to the editor
  • Write Op-Ed's
  • Notify local news outlets and media of pro-Israel events taking place on your campus
  • Monitor on-campus group activities, rallies and speakers

Monitor media:

  • Check your campus paper for articles of interest

Work with Hillel students as well as other student groups, including non-Jewish groups on campus to promote Israel in creative way s:

  • Information tables
  • Hold Israel meetings
  • Public speaking (i.e., debates, information sessions)
  • Birthright recruiting and follow up programs

LTS- Hagshama's Leadership Training Seminar in Israel!
 
 
 
 
 
Are you an Israel activist?  Looking to get involved?  Want to get to Israel this summer?  Check out the opportunities below- they may be done in conjunction with one another, or alongside another Israel program this summer!


LTS- Hagshama's Leadership Training Seminar in Israel!

Dates: July 17-31

Cost: Free (all inclusive), but does not include airfare

Registration: Until May 15th

Description:  Be a part of the global conversation!  LTS is Hagshama's annual Global Leadership Training Seminar in Israel!  25 students from North America, South Africa, Europe, and Latin America will be selected to participate in this life changing, skill-building experience.   Only 10 will be chosen from North America.  LTS includes tours, face-to-face encounters with Israeli political and cultural figures, workshops, lectures, and entertainment- all while having an amazing time in Israel!  Students will also participate in projects to help rebuild the North.  The entire program will be delivered in English and main topics to be addressed will be:

  • Israel Today - updates on the society, politics and security issues
  • Hasbara and Antisemitism - content and tools
  • Leadership and projects
  • Israeli culture
  • Jewish and Zionist identity
Potential participants are suitable to become volunteer activists upon their return to their countries. They will be Hagshama contact persons on campuses and activists in smaller cities/towns where the department is not located.  Candidates will require an interview and must sign the attached form stating their interest in the program. 

Israel Activists 2007

Dates: Aug. 1st-8th

Cost: $450 (all inclusive), flight subsidies available up to $1000

Registration: Until June 1st

Description:  You've been to Israel...you know how amazing it is, how unique, how important...you know that getting to Israel is the best way to strengthen ties...  How about going back (for cheap!), and helping others get there, too?

The Israel Activist Program will train students to be representatives on their campuses and give them the tools they need to help others get to Israel on a variety of programs offered through the Israel Programs Center (
www.israelprograms.org).  The group will be visiting different program options around Israel, meeting with staff members and current program participants.  Students will also participate in workshops on public speaking and marketing, which will help them recruit students and spread the word about Israel programs.

Participants must:
-be at a least a second year student this fall
-have past involvement in the Jewish community
-have been to Israel before, preferably on a peer trip
-be willing to volunteer a few hours a week to promoting Israel programs on campus
-have a recommendation from a shaliach or local IPC rep
-have a recommendation from a community leader (rabbi, Hillel professional, professor, etc.)
