ComedySportz/UIC Hillel Parties

You have two amazing opportunities to party with Hillel this SATURDAY
NIGHT, FEBRUARY 11.

Below is the announcement for both!

Several months ago our Hillel decided upon ComedySportz as our Saturday
night social party for the semester, and reserved tickets for the 10:30 PM
show.  More recently UIC Hillel organized a creative fun party at UIC
Hillel starting at 7:30 PM Saturday night.   We want to let you know about
both!

In theory you could make it to both - and if you go to the UIC HIllel
party and RSVP - then it is only $5, otherwise it is $10.  If you do that,
and then want to come to ComedySportz for the 10:30 PM show, you will only
have to pay $5 instead of $10 for your ticket.  Hillel at Loyola wants to
help support UIC Hillel's great party!  We are sorry both ComedySportz and
the Hillelentine's Bash are on the same night.

HILLEL AT LOYOLA COMEDYSPORTZ THEATER PARTY!

TICKETS ONLY $10!  These are $17 tickets, but they are being subsidized by
Hillel.  Tickets are limited, so you need to sign up to insure you get a
ticket.  You pay at the theater.

ComedySportz is Chicago's premier improv theater.  "Put your game face on" and
enjoy a hilarious night of "improv comedy with a competitive edge!"

ComedySportz is located at 2851 N. Halsted, Chicago, IL. 60657 - 773-549-8080.

Get "Crafty" With Hillel!

MAKE YOUR OWN TZEDAKA BOX AND "KEEP THE CHANGE!"

TUESDAY-THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7-9, 11 AM-4 PM, THE HALLWAY OUTSIDE OF HILLEL,
MUNDELEIN CENTER, 2ND FLOOR

Hillel's Jewish United Fund (JUF) Campaign Committee is sponsoring this
fun and practical "hands-on" project.

We have all the art supplies and the boxes!  All you need to provide is
your own creativity to make your own tzedaka box to collect "tzedaka"
(money to be given for charitable purposes) throughout the next two
months.

Hillel's JUF Campaign is the week of April 3rd, and we hope you will bring
in your tzedaka box to donate what you have collected.  There will be a
prize for the most money turned in and a prize for the most creative
tzedaka box.

The Jewish United Fund Campaign on our campus has a two-fold purpose - to
educate students about the many organizations in the United States and
throughout the world that the JUF supports and to raise funds to support
those efforts.

We hope you will stop by Tuesday-Thursday to make a tzedaka box!

The Hillel at Loyola JUF Campaign Committee is:  Lisette Zaid, chair,
Brett Cohen, Kevin Gafni, Alana Kinarsky, Hadleigh Vining.

WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH PROGRAMMING

WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH PROGRAMMING

Hillel at Loyola is involved with planning programs for Women's History
Month, to be held in March after our Spring Break.

One of the programs will be a panel of representatives from different
religious and ethnic communities who are part of organizations dealing
with abuse in their respective communities.

Another program is the visit of an Argentinian Jewish woman writer who is
being brought to campus by the Department of Modern Languages and
Literature.

Hillel is also thinking of sponsoring another Jewelry-Making program in
preparation for the holiday of Purim and "dressing up like Esther!"

Finally, we would like to assemble a committee of women interested in
working on Hillel programs for or about Jewish women.

If you are interested in any of these programs or in being part of such a
committee, please contact Patti Ray at pray@luc.edu .

DECONSTRUCTION ZONE '06

DECONSTRUCTION ZONE '06

Hillel was an integral part of this unusual and creative program last
Spring that is being organized again under the leadership of Residence
Life.  It will again take place in the basement of Coffey Hall,
which is transformed into a "tunnel of oppression."  Please read the
description below.  Hillel is helping to coordinate the first information
session this Wednesday afternoon from 4-5 PM.  If you are interested in
participating and cannot come to that session, please e-mail Patti Ray at
pray@luc.edu and go to the other session, if that is possible.

"DECONSTRUCTION ZONE '06"

Discrimination*Hate*Violence*Ignorance*Oppression* - these are ugly words
and actions that exist in our society.  The "Deconstruction Zone" is a
student production created and performed by LUC students and staff.  It is
a diversity awareness project designed to fight ignorance and oppression
through education.  The participants physically move through a series of
sensory experiences/scenes pertaining to different kinds of oppression.
After traveling through the "Zone" in silence, a guided group discussion
is held to consider the impact of the "tour of oppression" and how it
relates to our community.

If you as an individual or part of an organization would like to
particpate in creating, performing in, or facilitating the "Deconstruction
Zone," there are two Information Sessions:

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8 4-5 PM - STUDENT LOUNGE, MUNDELEIN CENTER - 1ST FL.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 15 4-5 PM - MERTZ, WEST LOUNGE, 2ND FLOOR

We look forward to having you join us at one of these meetings and to your
participation in the "Deconstruction Zone."  The actual days of the
program will be April 24-26 from 5-9 PM each evening (times may vary
slightly).
