There is a new "twist" on Shabbat For the first Shabbat dinner of the
semester.  There is no charge for our Shabbat dinners, but please sign up
in the Hillel office, so we know you are coming.

Shabbat dinners always offer a very special oppporunity for community, and
we hope to see you there!

Torah Portion Discussion/Shabbat Dinner

MONDAY, JANUARY 30 - 4 PM - HILLEL LIVING ROOM

This week's Torah portion is Vaera, which tells the story of the 10
Plagues.  Rabbi Zev Drutman is leading a discussion at Hillel -

"THE TEN PLAGUES - WHY NOT JUST ONE?"

There will be a popcorn chicken dinner served at the program.

Rabbi Drutman is a wonderful teacher, and we look forward to having you

HOODIES/TSHIRTS ARE IN!

The new Hillel hoodies and t-shirts are in!  They are very high quality
and look great!

The design says the word "Loyola" in Hebrew on one line, and underneath in
English says "Hillel at Loyola."

The hoodies are in navy blue with white letters and are $25.

The t-shirts are maroon with gold letters and are $10.

You can pay with cash, a check made out to Hillel at Loyola, or by credit
card.

Patti Ray is bringing the shirts to the "Skate for Israel" party this
Saturday night at Iceland in Niles, and those who want can get their
hoodies or t-shirts then.

Starting Monday, they will be available in the Hillel office.  For those
who did not order them, we have several extra of each size.

Iceland is at the corner of Cumberland and Ballard.  If you have your own
skates - bring them!  There is no charge for skate rental, but so many
people come to this each year - they sometimes run out of large sizes, and
you have to wait for skates.

Hillel at Loyola is honored to sponsor the visit of Deputy Consul General
Andy David.  He is the highest ranking Israeli consular official to speak
at Loyola in many years, and he comes at a critical time in Israel's history
- Prime Minister Sharon remains in a coma, the Israeli elections are
several months away, the Palestinian elections are Wednesday.

Dr. David will lead a frank discussion of Israel's current internal
political situation as well as offer an honest appraisal of
Israeli/Palestinian relations.  He will also share some of Israel's
remarkable achievements that never make it to the headlines of our
newspapers.

We think this is a timely, outstanding opportunity for learning and asking
questions you have wanted answered.  We look forward to having you join us
Tuesday afternoon.
