You might be wondering how it is you got on this e- mail list in the first place. Most likely, you have attended an event of ours in the past or you've been involved with Israel activism on your campus.

The JCRC/Hillel Israel Initiative is a unique partnership of the JUFs Jewish Community Relations Council and Hillels of Illinois. The goal of the program is to motivate and educate Illinois college students to promote support for Israel on campus and beyond. Throughout the academic year, The JCRC/Hillel Israel Initiative sponsors conferences, lectures, and Israeli speaker and cultural programs on campuses throughout the state of Illinois, as well as the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

These programs are facilitated and executed with the help of the finest student activists on campus our Israel Interns. The Initiative also provides scholarship opportunities for students with Illinois residency for Israel missions, as well as Israel-related conferences around the world.

    Rally Reminder/Israel on Your Mind

TOMORROW, MONDAY, MAY 1 - RALLY TO STOP THE GENOCIDE IN DARFUR
4:30 PM - FEDERAL PLAZA, DEARBORN AND ADAMS

A citywide rally sponsored by a coalition of faith-based, ethnic, civic
and student organizations dedicated to ending the atrocities that threaten

Northwestern was the only local university that chartered buses to go the

It will be a crowded day downtown.  I am sure most of you know there is
also an immigrant rights rally earlier in the afternoon.  We have to make
sure that there are also people present to take a stand for Darfur.

If you want to leave from Loyola, we will meet at Hillel at 3:30 PM.

    Hillel Board Messages

    Hi,

Please remember that until Thursday at 6 PM you are all still Board
    members of Hillel at Loyola.

As the note you received from the Campaign Committee delineated, you
should all consider yourself responsible for making an $18 pledge for the
Jewish United Fund.  One of the Campaign Committee members is assigned to
contact each of you to remind you about making a pledge.  It would be very
helpful for you to make your pledge before they need to make the call.

I also want to remind you that our End-of-Year Goodbye to Seniors party is
scheduled for Sunday, May 14 at 3 PM at Glencoe Beach.  We decided to use
the beautiful beach once again for our beach barbeque/good-bye.

I need your help to make sure that we are not forgetting anyone who is
either graduating in May or December.  Here is who I know of - let me know
    if there are others:

Dennis, Natalie, Jenny, Olgas P. and G., Irina (in December),
Kevin (in December), Mendy, Donna, Mayya (in December), Steve F.r,
    Sasha K., Boris L.

Are we missing anyone?  What about Ben R.?  Andrea, are you graduating
    early?

Sunday, May 14 is Mother's Day - but it remains the best day for us to do
this.  We can make it earlier or later, if you think that would be better.
The new Board is responsible for making this happen.

    See you tomorrow.

    Patti

    JUF Campaign/Hillel Elections

    the Jewish United Fund.

Please stop by Hillel and fill out a pledge card to pledge a donation that
will go towards helping Jews in need in our own community and in
communities worldwide.  We are not collecting money.  You will receive a
bill from the JUF for the pledge that you make.  Thank you for your help.

    HILLEL AT LOYOLA ELECTIONS

On Wednesday, May 3 and Thursday, May 4 those on the Hillel listserve are
eligible to vote in the Hillel at Loyola Executive Board elections.
Voting will close at 5 PM on Thursday, May 4.  The ballots will be counted
and the final Executive and Regular Board announced by 6 PM.

Ballots and the ballot box will be on Patti Ray's desk in the Hillel
    Office.
