AMAZING HILLEL WEEK!

Shalom,

Monday-Thursday there is an outstanding Hillel program - and each is
very different from the other.  The diversity of Hillel is absolutely
demonstrated this week.  Two of the highlights are the very first
"women's only" Valentine's Day "Tea Party" sponosred by the women of MSA
and Hillel, and the Thursday, February 15 campus-wide panel and gala
banquet about faith and culture at Loyola.  We hope you take advantage of
this week's great programs and the great food that goes with them.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12 - 5:30 PM - HILLEL-MUNDELEIN CENTER, 2ND FLOOR

"THE ETHICS OF THE ISRAELI ARMY"

Led by members of Kollel Torah MiTzion - our guests are college students
who have just finished their service in the IDF (Israel Defense Forces)
and are a spending a year volunteering in an area Jewish high school before
beginning their college education.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a frank discussion of what it means
to be in the Israeli army, the place army service holds in the life of an
Israeli, the ethical standards by which those who serve are held to and
their own personal experiences with the realities of the ethical
standards.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 PM, and the discussion will follow.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13 - 7:00 PM - HILLEL-MUNDELEIN CENTER, 2ND FLOOR

"THE A,B,C'S OF JUDAISM"

Patti Ray, Hillel Director, is making this presentation for the Turkish
Intercultural Club's "Interfaith Week."  It is a Turkish Intercultural
Club program being held at Hillel, and the Turkish Intercultural Club
would very much like those on the Hillel listerve to attend.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14 - 4-6 PM - CARDINAL'S STE., MUNDELIEN CTR.-1ST FL.

"TEA, TABOO, AND FONDUE"

The women of the Muslim Students' Association (MSA) and Hillel invite you
to a tea party with chocolate fondue and the game of Taboo!

There will be great dipping treats for the fondue - from fruits to
marshmellows to graham crackers to pretzels.  There will be teas from
around the world, and a very exciting game of Taboo!

This program is a "first" for Hillel and MSA, and we are very excited
about it.  The party is for women only, please - but not only for Muslim
and Jewish women - so please invite your women friends to join us!

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14 - 4-5 PM - MCCORMICK LOUNGE, COFFEY HALL

"HILLEL LATIN DANCE CLASS"

As you can see, we have two programs on Wednesday that overlap a bit.

Konstantin and Jane's dance class is continuing on Wednesday's from 4-5.
There is so much enthusiasm for the class, they are now meeting weekly.
The women in the class can come to the "tea party" for the last hour!

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15 - 5-7 PM - SIMPSON MULTIPURPOSE ROOM

"FROM JERUSALEM, TO MECCA, TO CALCUTTA, TO CHICAGO" -
A discussion on faith and culture at Loyola University Chicago

This very special program is sponsored by the Niagara Foundation, Exelon
and Loyola University Chicago in honor of Black History Month.  The
program has two parts - a panel discussion and an amazing array of foods
from the different faith traditions and cultures represented on the panel.

A student from Hillel, MSA, HSO, University Ministry, Black Men's
Initiative, and an African-American Jesuit priest will comprise the panel,
which will discuss the rich faith traditions and diverse cultrues as they
are lived out and celebrated here at our campus.

The evening will begin with a dinner with foods from the Turkish
Intercultural Club, halal food from the Muslim Students' Association,
kosher food from Hillel, and vegetarian food from the Hindu Students'
Organization.

Father Garanzini, President of Loyola University Chicago, initiated this
program with the Niagra Foundation to celebrate the way our different
faith and cultural organizations interact at Loyola.  We hope you will
join us on Thursday evening.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
