Hillel This Week! Pizza, Beach, Whirlyball!

Shalom,

The Hillel Board has prepared yet another week filled with very diverse
activities from an Israeli filmmaker to a dorm pizza party to our annual Beach
Party to "Whirlyball" on Saturday night.

We hope you will join us some time this week.  The details follow!

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 - 4:00 PM - HUSSEY LOUNGE, DAMEN HALL-10TH FLOOR

"Filmmaking in Israel"

Israeli filmmaker, Yair Lev, will lead this discussion.  He is visiting
Chicago from Israel as part of the Chicago Festival of Israeli Cinema
(www.chicagofestivalofisraelicinema.org) that is being held at the Webster
Place Theaters in Chicago and the Landmark Rennaisance Theater in Highland
Park from September 7-17.

Yair Lev is a flimmaker and teaches Filmmaking and Theory of Cinema in Israel
at the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School and the Bezalel Academy of Art
and Design.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 - 9-10 PM - SIMPSON MULTIPURPOSE ROOM

"Dorm Pizza Party!"

A Hillel first!  Since there are so many Jewish students and their friends
living in the dorms this year - we are hosting a pizza party with deep dish
kosher pizza from Slice of Life.  This pizza has won awards even in the
non-kosher world!  We hope you will join us!

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 - 4-7 PM - HARTIGAN BEACH - ALBION AND THE LAKE

"Hillel's Annual Beach Party!"

For more than 15 years Hillel has hosted this end of summer celebration with
sand volleyball, music, food, games, and some other surprises!

Hartigan Beach is now Loyola's only lakefront beach, on Albion Avenue, which is
just one street north of Loyola Ave.  There is a small path/alley that runs
right behind the Wellness Center, which is a short-cut to the beach.

We think the weather will be great!  But, if by chance it is not - the party
will move to Hillel, on the second floor of Mundelein Center.  In that case, we
lose the beach volleyball!

We hope to see you on Thursday at the beach!

SATURDAY NIGHT, SEPTEMBER 16 - 10 PM-MIDNIGHT - 1880 W. Fullerton

"WHIRLYBALL"

"Whirlyball" is the perfect fusion of bumper cars, lacrosse, basketball and
madness - really!

On a basketball court, there are two teams of 5 bumper cars each.  The games
are 3 minutes long, so people have many opportunities to play. Instead of
basketball hoops, there are holes in the backboards; and instead of
basketballs, there are wiffle balls and lacrosse scoops.
You have to see it to believe it!

Hillel has its own party room on the side of the Whirlyball court, with sliding
glass window/walls, so you can see all the action on the court. If you are not
from Chicago, you have probably not experienced Whirlyball!

The cost is $10, paid when you arrive.  Refreshments and beverages will be
provided by Hillel.

TRANSPORTATION/DIRECTIONS

If you are driving - "Whirlyball" is at 1880 W. Fullerton.  Exit the Kennedy
Expressway at Fullerton East and go just 3 blocks east on Fullerton between
