SUKKOT AT LOYOLA!

Shalom,

We hope you had a good Fall Break.  Although the Hillel Sukkah was built
for the beginning of the holiday of Sukkot, on Friday evening, October 6 -
since that was the beginning of Fall Break, our Hillel Sukkot programs are
this WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11 & 12.

The Hillel Sukkah is on the southeast lawn of Mundelein Center, right on
the Sheridan Road curve.  The sukkah is beautifully decorated.  Even
though the weather may be cool, stop by and check it out!  We wiill have
hot apple cider inside!

After the listing of Sukkot programs, there is the announcement of our
next Shabbat dinner - this Friday the 13th - "A Murder Mystery Shabbat!"
We hope you can join us.  Details follow below.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 11 - IN THE SUKKAH

12:30 PM - "Pizza in the Hut" - An explanation of Sukkot by Rabbi Zev
Drutman.  A pizza lunch will be served.

2:30 PM - Russian senior citizens from the Devon/Sheridan residence make
their annual visit to the Hillel Sukkah.

5:00 PM - "Cinema in the Sukkah" w/Israeli Dinner - Viewing award-winning
Israeli film "Ushpizin" (set at Sukkot) in the sukkah.  If the weather is
inclement, we will view the movie and eat upstairs at Hillel.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12 - IN THE SUKKAH

Noon-4:00 PM - "Campus-wide" Sukkah Open House - Please stop by the
sukkah, have some hot apple cider and brownies, learn about the holiday
traditions.

7:00 - 10:00 PM - "Hookah in the Sukkah Party!"  This has become a Hillel
tradition - with the hookahs in the sukkah, which will be transformed into
a Mediterranean casbah (albeit a cold casbah!) with the food likely served
just inside Mundelein Center.

Because of the cold weather, we may start a little earlier - so plan to
stop by as early as 6 PM!

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13 - 6:00 PM - CARDINAL SUITE - MUNDELEIN CENTER-1ST FLOOR

"Murder Mystery Shabbat"

A traditional kosher Shabbat dinner "with a Friday the 13th twist."  If
you want, you can come dressed for a murder mystery - use your
imagination!  But you do not have to dress up at all!

Shabbat dinners are free, but we want to know if you are coming; so we can
order the appropriate food.  Please RSVP to Patti Ray at pray@luc.edu or
sign up in Hillel.

Shabbat dinners are organized and run by Hillel's Judaica Committee.  This
is a great way to be introduced to a Shabbat dinner experience or to return
to one.
